Ministers do many things. Mostly I teach adult courses and do spiritually-oriented and some mainstream counseling. As an ordained interfaith minister, however, I also offer Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Direction. We associate these terms with Christianity but obviously they apply to any faith. Are you curious about: --Feeling more of God’s presence in general? --Different ways of praying, or more effective prayer? --Lack of discipline in your practice? --Making sense of certain experiences? --Ways to meditate in your faith? --Teachings that you don’t accept or understand? --What might happen in your afterlife journey? --Understanding what God wants of you right now? --A general sense of sin and unworthiness before God? --Perhaps having sinned in your faith, and getting over it? --How spiritual principles apply to specific issues in your life? --Possibly changing faiths, or places of worship? Traditionally, pastoral counseling involves applying religious or spiritual principles to problems in your life, such as too-frequent arguments with your spouse, a better attitude towards your difficult boss, etc. Spiritual direction involves more general internal issues between you and God, such as those mentioned above. Sessions can involve either or both. OTHER SERVICES INCLUDE --Weddings --Funerals --Baby blessings --House blessings --Hospice Work & Transitions --Energy Clearings --Marriage Counseling --Interfaith Services --Interfaith Prayer Services These all involve a perhaps-extensive interview process, in which I get to know the participants fairly well, plus whatever circumstances or events might affect or influence whatever thing we are trying to bless, commemorate, create or accomplish.
